Maths and literacy to grow your child’s confidence and ability.

With a focus on quality personal interactions, social skills and emotional growth, we think outside the box to develop inspired learners covering spelling, handwriting, structured literacy and maths.

Maths focus for Term 2 is Algebra (varied for each individual depending on level)

Tuesdays am (seniors)

Wednesdays am (middlers)

CSI: Academy – Crack the Case!

Seniors / Tuesday 12:45pm - 2:45pm

Forensics & Crime Scene Investigation 🔍

Back by demand but this time as a full termly course rather than a one day holiday programme! Step into the shoes of a detective! Students will explore forensic science through hands-on activities like fingerprint analysis, DNA extraction, and crime scene investigations. They will learn about forgery detection and cybercrime - all extremely relevant in today’s society! They will write up case files and maybe even create a podcast episode!

The course culminates in an exciting escape room challenge where they’ll put their new skills to the test! A perfect blend of logic, science, and problem-solving!

 

STEAM - Time Travellers: Past, Present & Beyond!

Worlds of Wonder: Past, Present, and Future 🌍

Uncover the secrets of history while engineering the future! From ancient engineering marvels to futuristic robotics, this STEAM-based course takes students on a journey through time. We will explore concepts such as: 

 ✔️ Explore sound waves and build simple phonographs
✔️ Create working microscopes to study microorganisms
✔️ Construct model bridges to test strength and stability
✔️ Program basic robots to understand automation
✔️ Design and launch rockets to explore space science

Each project is rooted in real-world applications, encouraging students to think critically, experiment, and innovate. We also integrate Māori knowledge and historical perspectives, ensuring a culturally rich learning experience.

 

Tales Around the Fire: Myths, Fables & Folklore

Juniors / Thursday 12:45pm - 2:45pm

Folktales & Fables from Around the Globe 📖

Journey across continents and centuries through timeless folktales, myths, and fables! Discover the magic of storytelling. This literacy and social sciences-based programme explores the storytelling traditions of diverse cultures, comparing their themes, morals, and character archetypes. Students will:
✔️ Analyse cultural influences in storytelling
✔️ Compare variations of classic tales from different countries
✔️ Examine the morals and lessons behind fables
✔️ Reimagine traditional stories through modern adaptations
✔️ Create shadow puppets, mythical maps, and story quilts to bring tales to life

This course builds critical thinking, comparative analysis, and creative expression, fostering an appreciation for the universal nature of storytelling. By the end of the term, students will showcase their learning through a Folklore Festival—a creative storytelling showcase featuring performances, digital stories, and written adaptations of their favourite tales!
